About Chiropractic
What Is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the world’s largest drugless healing profession. It is a clinical science based on the biological law that within every living being there lies the ability to heal itself. The world’s largest drugstore is within your own body; a body that can manufacture every remedy you need. Self-made chemicals alter blood pressure and heartbeat, produce antibiotics and painkillers, can affect moods, growth, the healing of wounds, fertility, provide insulin and allow the digestion of foods that nourish and replenish the body.
Chiropractors believe that the spine is the framework that houses and protects the spinal cord, the 'switchboard' of the entire nervous system. A major impediment to proper healing is any kind of poor nerve supply due to pressure on the nerves. Through the gentle movement (adjustment) of misaligned or fixated vertebrae in the spine, the chiropractor takes the pressure off the nerves and thus removes any interference in that 'switchboard.' This allows the human body to regain control and direct its healing energies properly.
