What can I expect on my first visit?

You’ve set an appointment to see the doctor because you have a health concern you want addressed. We schedule extra time for the new-patient questionnaire, the examination, and for you and the doctor to unhurriedly discuss your health concerns. You're welcome to fill out our new patient form in advance— just let the receptionist know you'll be bringing it in completed.

Dr. Colwell will review this information with you and determine your problem. If it is one that chiropractic care can likely help, the next phase is a thorough physical examination. This may include testing for limitations in mobility, the condition of your reflexes, or other accepted chiropractic, neurologic and orthopedic tests. Dr. Colwell may also request an x-ray be taken of your spine to facilitate the diagnosis. If so, one of our technicians will take you through the on-site x-ray process, and the doctor will then review the results with you and discuss the most effective treatment plan.

Treatment may begin after your initial exam and x-rays are available, or on your next visit. Should Dr. Colwell’s diagnostic opinion be that your health problem requires a combined chiropractic and medical approach or that your health problem would best be treated by a medical doctor, he will refer you to another doctor’s care.
